Leave your signs at home.

This event, despite what the media claims, is NOT a Tea Party event. We are NOT gathering to call for the removal of the spendthrifts who are in control of the Congress and Federal government. We are not joining together to talk about the woes of government, but instead we are gathering to remind one another what it means to be a nation, what it means to be an American, and what it means to be a defender of freedom.

Don’t bring your signs you usually bring to tea party events. That is not what this rally is about, and that has everyone confused. Oh, there will be a relationship you will be able to draw between the rally and what is happening with our government and leaders today. But that relationship is one you will have to form yourself. It won’t be spoon fed to you.

Of course, the media and the liberals are going to misinterpret what is going on with the rally. They will use their usual calls of racism, etc. despite the fact the event will highlight the words of Martin Luther King Jr. It will highlight his contributions to society. It will highlight his words, that said we should all care about the content of a person’s character – which is exactly what honor means to me.

Those running the government and the media have no honor. They have no character. They will lash out angry at those of us meeting in front of the Lincoln Memorial. Because we’re going to be pointing out their faults. We are going to be emphasizing our honor, and our striving to be honorable, and those on the Left will be embarrassed. They will be hit upside the head with the Truth. They will be shown as the socialist squirrels they truly are. 

As those folks sang when fighting for civil rights, it is our turn to sing We Shall Overcome!

I know I stated I would be changing the name of this blog soon. As I was thinking about this and checking some ideas in wikipedia, I came across this motto which more fits what this blog is about, and also embraces the conservative and libertarian ideals I believe in much better than the later works of Thomas Paine.

So, this blog’s name is changing to For God and Liberty, and I hope those who link to this relay the new name.

Of course, this brings up the reason ‘why’?

Two reasons: first, the name of this blog was conceived by both myself and another person. It was meant to be a joint blog, where we would both post opinions on the world. However, before the blog was put up, the other involved in this project went his own way and now has hardly any presence on the Internet.

Second, the true founder of the Democratic party was not Thomas Jefferson, despite what the Democrats like to claim. The man whose writings are actually the basis of the Democratic party is another Thomas – Thomas Paine. Of course, it is Thomas Paine who penned the famous Common Sense. Paine’s further writings, however, endorsed the concept of equality over freedom, and also were supportive of an atheist view of the world. Out of all the Founding Fathers, it was Paine who wanted religion not only out of government, but in at least one writing wished it could be banned completely. 

With this country teetering like it is, I cannot in good conscience continue with a name that implicitly endorses these concepts. Thus, I am going to change it before August, when the political season heats up faster than the weather outside.
