Best Laid Plans…
April 7th, 2011 | No Comments
Yep. I was going to make a lot of podcasts, make a number of blog posts, keep everything moving. Yep, that was my plans.
Well, you can see how well that all went.
It was not from a lack of desire, it was from a lack of time. Too many things occupy my free time these days, but at least one of those things will be coming to fruition in hopefully about a month or so. I have been asked to clean up another website for a couple of fellow science fiction fans. Once I get a couple of things resolved, we should be seeing a more comprehensive website from them.
In three weeks, another project may actually be ready to go. I plan on doing testing before that point, though. That will be, not a podcast, but a channel on Justin.tv where I can broadcast my video game playing in their gaming channels. I’m hoping I have that up and going soon.
In the meantime, you may be able to catch me in a number of places:
- Chicago, May 2nd – 4th for CMSExpo
- Minneapolis, June 17th – 18th for RightOnline
- Riverside Iowa, June 25th for Trekfest (assuming it is still held)
- Las Vegas Nevada, August 11th – 16th for Star Trek Las Vegas
Help #TeamJen!
February 9th, 2011 | One Comment
A friend of mine on Twitter, who goes by the handle of @TrekJen, had her house burn down this week. Of course, as you can tell by her name, she was a big Star Trek fan and lost a lot of memorabilia in the fire. Insurance claims they do not cover the contents of Jen’s house.
This has devastated Jen’s finances, obviously. She survived the fire with her laptop, phone, and thankfully her dog. But everything else is gone.
I ask you please follow @starfleetmom on Twitter for more details, as well as links periodically broadcast to a PayPal donation fund she has set up for @TrekJen. Also, follow the hashtag of #TeamJen to hear more on how to help her out.
Best Laid Plans…

Thanks to my busy schedule, I have at least one, if not two, podcasts sitting, waiting to be edited. This is what happens when you try to be a solo act with a podcast that lasts 20-30 minutes.
It doesn’t help when one gets hooked on DC Universe Online or Minecraft, either *big smile*.
I’m going to record another cast before Gallifrey One, but probably still won’t get it edited. I’ll also probably try to be Mr Roving Reporter at Gallifrey One. When things get published, we shall see. I’m beginning to think having a backlog of publishable material may help me with everything.

Welcome everyone to the new podcast! Genius Strength Cunning Episode 001 is now live off of this link, but now I get to figure out all the fun with hooking up with feeds, iTunes, and other venues to advertise it.
Right now, it is pretty basic, but I’ll improve. You have to start somewhere.

Gallifrey One – 21 Photo Gallery

I do not know if people ever saw last year’s photo gallery, especially the construction of Tara (@tardis_tara) and DH’s TARDIS. Please go here to see the gallery of all the photos I took:

John Levine’s Hour at Gallifrey One
January 7th, 2011 | No Comments
Last year, I attended part of John Levine’s Hour at Gallifrey One. This year, I hope I can catch the entire thing. John loved his time on Doctor Who as Sergeant Benton, and it shows. I hope to get the following photo autographed by him this year, as I was unable to find him after I got the photo with him last year.
FYI, the photos offered at Gallifrey One were not attended by many, but let me tell you, they are worth every penny to me. Frasier Hines coming back this year allows me to get the photo I have with him signed as well.
Alert! – Incoming Podcasts!
January 4th, 2011 | One Comment
Yes, I am about to get into podcasting. I know so many people who do it, plus with my experience already with the medium, I’ve decided to plunge into the world of the podcast.
What I am going to podcast about? First and foremost, Doctor Who. Specifically, though, I’m going to podcast on the historical references within Doctor Who. As a history buff, seeing the historical episodes are the most interesting shows because of how the Doctor deals with events that have already occurred.
In addition to the Doctor, though, it is obvious I’m going to talk Star Trek every so often as well. I love Klingons, specifically, so will probably focus on the Klingon presence rumored in the next Star Trek movie.
I will also be talking MMOs and roleplaying in general. I’ve been roleplaying since 1978, been in multiplayer online games since 1991.
The Podcast’s name will be Genius, Strength, Cunning! Yes, I decided to use the name of this blog as the name of the podcast, and the links and podcast information will be posted here. I’ll be adding other resources as well, perhaps a forum and other options.
At the start, I’m doing this podcast alone. That may change quickly. Also, I may hook into another network I have ties with depending on my success or failure.
So, wish me luck on this endeavor!
Next MMO – DC Universe
January 3rd, 2011 | One Comment
On January 11th, Sony will be releasing DC Universe Online. After a delay, as the game was supposed to go live in November, it will be possible to run around in Metropolis and Gotham, fighting besides or against the likes of Batman, Superman, and other DC Comic book characters.
The game has the feel of an arcade, which a lot of MMO players are not going to be used to. In fact, many gamers already are saying they won’t be playing because of this.
Personally, in one sense, I find this refreshing. MMO’s have become cookie cutters of one another. Even the free to play Flash games have followed the usual standards. Having an MMO with different controls makes it just feel different, like you aren’t playing the standard game. The speed that everything moves is another aspect, more suited to someone who plays first person shooters.
I won’t bore you with more details on the game. Far bigger sites can regurgitate that information. My impressions are the game is different for now, and I will subscribe for the usual three months to try it out. I hope to see you all there.
I will comment on this post on the 11th, to let you all know the characters I am creating.
RCWF on Justin.tv
June 29th, 2010 | No Comments
One of my new addictions is Justin.tv’s website, which works far better for me than Ustream on my iPhone. Specifically, I have been hanging around the tvirus_zombies channel, which is also known as the home of the RCWF – a Smackdown vs Raw 2010/Fire Pro Wrestling league that broadcasts on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Tad Peters is the head of the organization, and after a couple of weeks, I decided to join up. I have a character in what’s known as the Dungeon, aka the training facility. It is the piece run via Fire Pro Wrestling by Dylan Thompson. They have a website up at www.tadpeters.com for their website (though, as a web designer, I cringe when I go to it because it is so old…Joomla + K2 would be ideal for the site, with Kurena as the forum).
My techie bias aside, everyone participating is having a great time with the events (Painkiller, Demolition, Shimmer, & the Dungeon), including holding pay per views of mixed cards. What makes it so fun, along with the promos being done on the forum, is the fact Tad does running commentary instead of the old, repetitive voices from the video game.
In addition, Tad has started a league based on UFC Unleashed 2010 called KDF, for those MMA fans out there.
If you love professional wrestling, ala WWE/TNA, come take a look at justin.tv/tvirus_zombies.
Welcome to Taggart

I’ve been playing Eve Online kinda sporadically, but logging in at least once a day since paying for the subscription. It isn’t because I dislike the game, quite the contrary, but I’ve been busy working on other things at night which takes away my time to actually play.
However, as I get many of the ‘basic’ skills up to 5, I am coming to the realization I need to go and plan out my future skills to do what I need. I will be doing some work researching these things, as I want to do not only what is the most profitable, but will benefit my corporate friends (at a price)
Since I have not announced it yet, I am now a member of Taggart Transdimensional.
More than a role playing corporation, Taggart is based on the writings of Ayn Rand and specifically her book Atlas Shrugged. The group not only follows the book’s outlook, everyone that is a member goes through a rigourous process in order to be accepted. It requires one to be very close to the objectivist vision put out by Rand. If you have ever read my political blog, you would see that I am very close to much of Rand’s message.
