Who am I?
My name is David West, and in real life I am the web systems administrator for the city of Omaha. I work in Linux, JBoss, WordPress, and Joomla primarily.
Star Trek & Star Trek Online
I am a major Star Trek fan, though not to the level of obsessive. I was a big fan of DS9, and an even bigger fan of the Klingons. When I heard Cryptic had picked up the Star Trek Online license, I was excited and immediately began planning.
From the beginning, I decided I was going to focus on the Klingons. Though I’m not gifted (or have the time) to learn the Klingon language like some I know who will be playing Star Trek Online, I knew I could rely on these people who will be playing as Klingons to help provide more insights than my own.
Though I have let my subscription relapse, I am still interested in the game and will return to the game when I feel it is ready for another go. I cannot stay away from Star Trek.
Doctor Who
I started watching Doctor Who with Jon Pertwee, the Third Doctor, and have been a fan since. I’ve done fan fiction writings in the Doctor Who universe, and even incorporated much of the mythology of the Doctor into other projects I have worked on over the years.
I own about every paper and pencil game featuring the Doctor and his companions as well.
Superhero MMOs – Champions Online and DC Universe Online
I play a number of MMOs, and wrote a couple of times for Hero Games with the game Champions RPG. When I found out that Cryptic Studios got the IP for Champions, I was excited. I liked what they did on City of Heroes, and was very happy someone picked up the ball on Champions.
During the beta, I was lucky enough to have gotten hooked up with MMO Junkies, and Sata Alvarez. Sata started @Wherocast and I was one of the podcast’s first guests. I’ve ended up as one of the co-hosts since because I loved Champions Online.
However, now my obsession is DC Universe Online. I have always been a big fan of DC, and having the ability to see and play characters in their comic book universe is a thrill. I am working on maxing out six characters, one for each mentor in the game.
Where to Find Me
You can find me on Twitter as @Nebraska_Dave. If you want my political Twitter, it is @ltfngr. Be warned – my politics are libertarian-conservative and I was one of the 30 people in the original conference call that started the Tea Party rallies nationwide.
On IRC, I am in the official Star Trek Online IRC chat as Nebraska_Dave, or in the forums of Champions Online or Star Trek Online as ltfngr.
